As said, the interview never took place, but the message is true. As caboose said, if you teach young people how to handle a gun safely, they’re infinitely less likely to injure themselves with one, if you go further and teach them responsibility and morals as they pertain to guns, they’re even less likely to injure themselves.

Considering the contents of the link, I’m pretty sure “not true” was referring to the fictional story that the blogger tried to imply was actually a portion of some radio interview, not the comments of the fictional general.
